Our Natural World (& beyond) This stream will focus on discovering the world around us in an 'environment' sense. It will correspond most closely with what you know as Geography & Maths. On Tuesday, we'll look at Melbourne as a geographic entity, and look at what our future might hold within a warming planet. On Wednesday, we'll solve a murder. It will involve discovering some of the Mathematical world which makes up our city. Our mission having been accomplished, we'll head off to the Planetarium at Scienceworks to discover how Melbourne is affected by space!
The Wonderful World of Languages
This week we will be looking at Languages.
Why do we learn foreign languages?
Are they a waste of time? Doesn’t the whole world speak English anyway?
We will be setting out to look at the importance for young Australians to learn other languages from an economic, cultural, intellectual cultural and community perspective.
I hope this trail will inspire you to break free from the barrier of only knowing English and motivate you during LOTE sessions
Sociology 101 – when the arts, public space and beliefs collide
Sociology is the science of human behaviour and cultural norms – what’s acceptable, who gets to participate and what happens when you break an unwritten rule? You will have the opportunity to ask these questions and come to your own conclusions about Melbourne.
You are going to take on the role of cultural investigator – auditing some of Melbourne’s key gathering places, visiting the Melbourne Festival Hub for a lunchtime performance and chatting with some of the change makers in Melbourne’s place making scene.
